With Attendance Off, Disney Is Dealing
The Attendance at both Disney theme parks in the United States has begun to slip in the last part of 2008. They are dropping about 5 percent compared to the year prior. So to keep guests coming through the turnstiles in 2009, the company is rolling out deals not seen in years.
At the Disney World in Florida, the Walt Disney World Resort is offering a seven-night vacation package for only the price of four, also including the price of admission. That means a family of four could stay at the Disney Resort and their savings would be about $400. Also if you book it now you will receive $200 to and Disney merchandise or dining while you are there.
The California, Disneyland has many vacation packages that include gift card and adult tickets at the price of children tickets. Both Disneyland and Disney World are offering the day of your birthday to be free.
These bargains mean more options for families that are tight on vacation budgets. Even in peak travel periods. Many say that it would be crazy to spend full price to go to Disney right now. Disney has continued to raise the price of annual admissions. Starting at $219 for Children to $389 for a year admission.
“We recognize families are watching their budget more than ever before,” said Sandra Daniels, a spokeswoman for Six Flags, “We want to be an economical value.”
I think it is good idea that the Disney Company is realizing that the economy is really bad now. I think it may attract more people and families now that they are offering all these different packages. Also their daily admission has dropped a little bit. I know that they want to attract people, but if they left there prices I don’t think many people would go. Even though families are saving about $400 they might be drawn to the fact that they are actually saving some money. I think this is more for people who are looking to travel and are willing to spend money and want to go on a vacation. I don’t really think this affects people who are really looking to save their money. Even though they are going to save money if people didn’t have the idea to go on a family trip in the first place I don’t think they will change their mind. If parents were planning on taking their children to Disney land it would be a good idea while they are still young and also now that there are some bargains it won’t be ass expensive. I think many other amusement parks have dropped their prices a little so they might have gotten their idea from seeing other places doing that. Many places have done 2 for 1 and I know more people are thinking of going.
This doesn’t really affect me at all because my family and I aren’t looking to go on any family trips right now because we know it is a harder time. Maybe if it was an airline discount we would be more attracted to traveling. Since we have been to Both Disney Land and Disney World I probably won’t go unless I was going with someone who has never been. When I was younger my parents would take me to Disney land at least once a year. I know when I was younger the price was always rising and there was never a discount, and my parents still paid. I think now that the price has gone down more people that have never been may go. If we are trying to save money we are not going to do things because it is a little cheaper now. If I was looking to going to one of the Disney Resorts and I saw all there bargain’s it would definitely be a bonus and I would book the vacation for sure. I think that Disney is kind of getting old. They haven’t really done much to it other than adding California Adventure.
